| Just whisper the word "Custer," and you've conjured up fantastic images -- the general with long golden hair; row after row of Cavalry soldiers riding in formation over the rolling hills; war-painted Indians on horseback, fighting to keep what is theirs; the bloody battle on Last Stand Hill. The Battle of the Little Bighorn is a part of the life and breath of the people of eastern Montana. Each year, hundreds gather together to recreate a part of their heritage in Custer's Last Stand Reenactment.
Many of the re-enactors are descendants of the Indian scouts who rode with Custer or the homesteaders who came after and scratched out a living among the unforgiving hills and plains. They come each year to remember, and to renew friendships created through shared experiences and battles won -- or lost -- together. We'd like to invite you to meet a few of the cast and crew members, and discover what draws them back each year. We hope you'll find a little piece of history you can hang on to, and invite you to meet us in person next summer at Custer's Last Stand Reenactment! |
